Religion and Science

The first thing that comes to mind is catholic hospitals, we have two pieces in our new textbook – one of miscarriage mismanagement (ch. 49) and the other on an abortion and an excommunication of a nun (ch. 50). The crisis pregnancy chapter (48) might also be worth a look, depending on your angle.

Jung’s article comparing abortion to organ donation might be a nice tie-in (ch. 34) and Blanchard’s discussion of evangelical ideas about contraception could be useful (ch. 20). If you are doing any historical work, eugenics might do (23) and a couple other pieces in the history section might be of interest (17 and 18) as well as the AMA’s crusade to criminalize abortion (22).
